What is the Pomodoro technique?

The Pomodoro technique is a time-management method invented by Francesco Cirillo. You work in 25-minute blocks — a pomodoro — followed by a short break. After four pomodoros you take a longer break. Splitting work into manageable blocks keeps you focused and prevents fatigue.

How to use the timer

  1. Pick a task to work on.
  2. Start the focus timer and work until it runs out.
  3. Take the short break that follows automatically.
  4. After four focus blocks you get a long break.

Tips

  • Adjust the duration to your own rhythm via the settings.
  • Treat a pomodoro as indivisible — do not interrupt it.
  • Use the breaks to truly disconnect from your screen.
